Charles Summers' Information

ETS is a federally funded TRIO education program (Website: http://www.coenet.us) which has hundreds of offices in the United States. These offices are funded directly, by grants, from the U.S. Department of Education and hosted by institutions of higher learning throughout the country.

My Mountain Home office is overseen by our main office which is hosted by North Arkansas College in Harrison, Arkansas. The Harrison main office (Website: http://www.northark.edu/students/TRIO/ets/index.htm), with a director and two academic counselors, also oversees offices in Paragould at Crowley’s Ridge College, in Batesville at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville, and in Russellville at Arkansas Tech University.

Although my office is in Mountain Home, my primary work with secondary students is done at their respective schools. I work with students in the Cotter, Melbourne, Norfork, Rural Special, and Viola school districts.  I also work out of the North Arkansas College offices when I can.

I moved here from Alvin, Texas, where I taught in In-School Suspension and an Alternative School. I have a M.Ed. degree in Health and Physical Education which, has allowed me, at times, to be an adjunct instructor at ASUMH and North Arkansas College. I also have 42 hours above my M.Ed. degree in secondary education administration.

Personal:

After graduating from Alvin High School and attending Alvin Community College in Alvin, Texas (Home town of Nolan Ryan), I worked in the grocery business working with my Dad at Summers Grocery in Alvin. After working for several years and loosing almost a hundred pounds on an aerobics jogging program, I decided to continue my education at the University of Houston while continuing to work at nights for Safeway Stores, Inc.

After graduating, I went to work in education, teaching at the School Community Guidance Center in Baytown, Texas. After committing my life to Jesus Christ, I attended Fountain Gate Bible College ( Fuchsia Pickett, Judson Cornwall) in Plano, Texas for a year. I also was blessed to work at the Aerobic Center (Kenneth Cooper) in North Dallas while I attended classes.

I returned to Alvin to work in the Special Assignment Center at Alvin High School and adjunct at Alvin Community College. I also worked part time for Rice Food Markets in Pasadena, Texas. While attending church in Alvin, I was blessed to meet and marry my wife who moved there from Michigan.

We moved to Snow, Arkansas, and I went to work for Educational Talent Search at North Arkansas College although I am stationed at ASUMH in Mountain Home, Arkansas. We now attend church (Real Ministries) in Harrison, Arkansas near Branson Missouri.
