A Call for Empathy and Prayer
One of the prominent students on the Yellville-Summit football team, Kymball Duffie, died in a car accident on 9-11. Kymbal was a junior and his younger brother, a freshman, is in Talent Search. His mother is the counselor at Yellville-Summit middle school and I work with her for the ETS program. The school, town, and family are all devastated so I would ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Lead Hill Goes to ATU (AKA Tech)
Well, here are the final details of the trip. It’s a 3 hour drive, so make sure you bring something to do on the bus. We will be eating in the college cafeteria. (Don’t worry. Their food is great!). Other things to bring would be a camera and questions to ask the tour guides and admissions staff. It will be fun, so make sure you don’t miss it. Here is a link to the permission slip in case you need an extra copy.

Pictures and Field Trips
Yesterday I had the priveledge of going to ASU Jonesboro with the Yellville-Summit seniors in Talent Search. It was the first time many of us had been to the campus (including me). It was a very good visit overall and everyone enjoyed. Pictures of the visit are in the photo album and on the Facebook group, so go check them out and make some comments.
There are several other field trips coming up for my students including: Silver Dollar City, Arkansas Tech University, The Fred Berry Nature Center and more. Make sure to stay up to date with details so you don't miss out on anything.

Another Scholarship Opportunity!
Here is another scholarship that was brought to my attention. It too came from the newspaper. This one if for students who plan on going into any of the agricultural fields (and there are many). This one is a full ride; it pays for books, tuition, room & board, fees, and use of a laptop and printer. It’s also renewable for four years. If you plan to go into any type of agricultural field OR a related science (botany, wildlife management, animal science, forestry, the list goes on), then check out this amazing scholarship here!

It's 2009 And That Means...
The new FAFSA is available. What is the FAFSA? Let's just say it is step number one for ALL things financial aid. Where can I get more info on it? Right here: www.fafsa.ed.gov. You will be able to complete it when your parents have gotten all their tax information from 2008. Even if they haven't yet filed their taxes, you can still use estimates. Don't wait! It's free money we're talking about here!
